Bride Guide to the Perfect Spray Tan

Bride Guide to the Perfect Spray Tan
Your wedding day is one of the most photographed (and memorable!) days of your life. You’ve got the dress, the flowers, the glam squad…but don’t forget the glow. A spray tan can tie it all together, giving you that radiant, confident look walking down the aisle. Here’s how to make sure your glow lasts beautifully from rehearsal to honeymoon.
1. Schedule a Trial Tan
Think of your trial tan like a dress fitting, it’s all about finding your perfect shade.
- Book it 3 – 4 weeks before your wedding.
- Even better? Schedule it 2 days before your hair and makeup trial so you can see the full bridal preview.
- This gives us time to tweak your color if needed so your wedding day glow is seamless.
2. Exfoliate Like a Pro
Fresh, smooth skin is the key to a flawless tan.
- Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment.
- Use an exfoliating mitt – avoid oily products, which can block the tan.
- Pay extra attention to elbows, knees, ankles, wrists, armpits, and where your bra rubs.
3. Hair Removal & Beauty Services
Timing is everything here!
- Waxing: Do this at least 48 hours before your tan to allow pores to close and avoid solution settling into them.
- Shaving: Best done 24 hours prior to your tan (never the same day!).
- Other beauty treatments: Manis, pedis, facials, lash extensions – all should be completed at least 24+ hours before your spray tan.
4. Hydrate Your Skin
Moisturized skin = longer-lasting, even glow.
- Apply a lightweight, tan friendly lotion on the days leading up to your appointment (not the morning of).
- Focus on dry areas (hands, feet, knees, elbows).
- Skip heavily fragranced or oily products (esp. mineral oil), they’ll create a barrier and cause patchiness.
5. Be Product-Savvy
Some beauty products don’t play nice with spray tans.
- Tan killers to avoid: Dove products, bar soap, mineral oil, retinols, heavy fragrance, and alcohol.
- Stick with tan-safe options (good news – you can grab body wash, lotion, face tan drops, and tan extender at your appointment to make it easy).
6. Day-of Glow Prep
Show up fresh-faced and ready to glow.
- Wear loose, dark clothing (bonus points for no bra straps).
- Skip deodorant, makeup, and perfumes before your appointment as they can affect how the solution develops.
- Keep jewelry and hair ties off your wrists/neck.
7. Post-Tan Care = Wedding Day Glow
The way you care for your tan is just as important as the prep.
- Wait the recommended time before showering (I’ll guide you based on your solution).
- Pat dry with your towel, no rubbing!
- Moisturize daily with a tan-safe lotion to extend your glow through honeymoon mode.
Final Glow Tip
Your tan should enhance your natural beauty, not cover it up. The goal is a radiant, confident, you-but-bronzed glow. Follow this guide, and you’ll look just as luminous in person as you are feeling on the inside.
